Privacy policy
In short: there is no account or personal profile, and addresses are used to calculate journeys but are not stored.

Data we process
BestBarrio asks for no registration, name, email or phone number. Search data is handled as follows:
- Addresses or places. They are sent to locate them and calculate journeys. They are not stored against you or a session.
- Search configuration. Budget, housing type, transport, time, preferences, frequency and arrival time may be stored anonymously to improve recommendations.
- Approximate position. Before storage, each point is rounded to a cell of about 100 metres; exact coordinates are never retained. A place's name is only stored if you share your results.
- Area feedback. Whether you knew or would consider an area, linked to an anonymous search rather than a person.
- Emails sent from the site. If you send a page to someone by email from the site, their address and, if you add it, your name are used only for that email and are not kept. To curb abuse, the day's sends are counted against an irreversible fingerprint of the address, which is deleted automatically within three days.
- Shared results. If you choose to share your results, a link is created with the search, its areas and the names of your places exactly as you see them before creating it (you can hide them). Anyone with the link can see it; it is not indexed by search engines, does not store who created it, expires after 90 days, and you can withdraw it earlier from the same browser.
- Abuse protection. To limit how many requests arrive from the same connection, we count against an irreversible fingerprint of the IP address, never the IP itself. Those counts are deleted within three days.
The exact address text or coordinate, or who runs or shares a search. A place's name only leaves your browser if you share your results, and you see it before the link is created.
Purpose and legal basis
We process data to provide the requested areas and understand in aggregate whether the product works, based on performing your request and our legitimate interest in improving the service. There is no advertising, personal profiling or automated decision with legal effects.
What remains in your browser
BestBarrio uses no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. It stores area feedback, a coordinate-free screen log for diagnostics and, if you use them, the name you type when sending by email and the codes to withdraw links you have shared. None of it leaves your browser except at the moment it is used.
Two necessary first-party cookies are used: bb_pass protects the API from abuse for two hours; bestbarrio-locale remembers your language for one year. Neither identifies or profiles you, neither is sent to third parties, and both disappear when site data is cleared.
Service providers
The service relies on hosting, database, mapping, routing and email delivery providers that process only what is needed. Transfers outside the EEA use applicable legal safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where relevant.
Hosting may measure aggregate visits—page, referrer, country and device—without cookies, personal profiles or cross-site tracking, so we can understand which content is useful.
Retention
Anonymous searches are deleted after 180 days; shared result links after 90 days, or earlier if you withdraw them; abuse counters within three days. Area feedback is kept without a time limit because it is not linked to anyone. As no personal identifier is stored, none of this can be linked back to you afterwards.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction or portability by writing to ilaygalron1@gmail.com. Because no personal identifier is retained, there will normally be no record that can be linked to you.
If you believe processing breaches the law, you may complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD). aepd.es.
